Leetonia High School

There is just as much sadness in the air as there is excitement.  Our Alma Marta, Leetonia High School is seeing it's final days.  This spring a ground breaking was held to construct a new K-12 school.  My mother graduated from Leetonia, as did Gary & I, and our children.  Now our oldest granddaughter is in the third grade and is already looking forward to her new school and the grandson will be a member of the first class to attend the new school from the beginning.  The new Leetonia school was originally scheduled to open in the fall of 2001 but that opening was delayed until the following school year.

Oh Leetonia Alma Mater
We thy sons give praise to thee
For the honor, love, and glory
thou bestowed on such as we
Though the roads of life are long
thy care has made us strong
Though trials shall come nigh
we'll raise our banners high
Oh Leetonia, throughout all our lives
thy commandments shall abide
And the colors flying in the sky
fill all our hearts with pride

L.E.E.T.O.N.I.A. A.L.I.V.E. is a project of the Leetonia High School Excel Program, created to bring recognition to Leetonia.  Year 2001 Members of Leetonia Alive: David Duke, Nate DiCross, Dennis Holisky, Lynne Trenkelbach, Kristy Kampf and Jessica Votaw.

"Every year we do community problem solving. This year our project is called L.E.E.T.O.N.I.A. A.L.I.V.E. and its purpose is to bring awareness to the people around us like other towns and even people in our town.  We have made a cookbook with ethnical background including recipes submitted by people around our town.  We also created a historical coloring book that we are going to distribute to children in the 3 & 4 grades. The cookbook will be for sale, and all the benefits from it are going to be used for signs that will be out up around the neighborhood and at city limits."
